At a recent Tesla Store opening in London, the first of its kind in the UK, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk was personally on hand to answer questions from Tesla owners and enthusiasts for nearly an hour.
We’ve been gleaning information from Elon Musk’s statements regarding future Tesla Motors developments, not only in the UK, but worldwide. At about 23:50 in the video someone asks, “Will the Tesla Model X be priced higher?” The video isn’t the greatest, but it’s workable…

So, we already knew that the upcoming Tesla Model X will be a crossover electric vehicle, or it wouldn’t be a Tesla Motors vehicle. It is supposed to be ready for production, probably for the 2016 model year. According to Elon Musk, “the Model X price will be very similar to the Model S. It’s probably going to be a slightly higher starting price because the Model X will only be offered as all-wheel drive. It’s going to be a dual-motor all-wheel drive [AWD].”
From of the looks of things, Tesla Motors’ next model will just as popular. Sure, it will cost a little more than the base Model S, but the Tesla Model X will probably have even better performance. Some may think of AWD as strictly an off-roading enthusiast’s dream, but it’s so much more than that. The Tesla Model X AWD will give it aggressive acceleration, as well as more efficient regenerative braking, in addition to the benefits that AWD provides while driving on slippery road surfaces.
