It has been rumored for about two years that Rolls-Royce was planning a secret electric car model. It seems that the model is an electric, zero emissions limousine. Rolls-Royce’s CEO, Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes said before Christmas that an alternatively- fueled or an electric experimental Rolls Royce would be something amazing. He stated that all of the options were being considered for alternatively-fueled vehicles.

BMW will be exposing its outstanding electric and environmentally-friendly technology to the world at the 2012 Olympics. So, a super green car for the rich could be on the road by that time. BMW, the company that owns British-based MINI, has already launched an electric power MINI-E that could be recharged from the mains.

The 2012 Olympics represents the perfect opportunity to show the entire world such a vehicle running on electric power or even fuel cells. It appears that Guy Ritchie, Madonna’s ex-husband and famous movie director, ordered one before Christmas.

As they are used to, Rolls- Royce has produced just one model to exhibit the most recent technological improvements and the luxury of the car. Being pressed by the Daily Mail before Christmas to produce an experimental super-green electric Rolls-Royce using the newest environmentally technology for the wealthy people, Mr. Mueller Oetvoes agreed that it would be a “good idea.”

Rolls-Royce sold 1,002 cars in 2009. In 2010 they sold 171% more than in 2009 and more than doubled the previous record of 1,212 cars established in 2008. In 2010 the largest market for Rolls-Royce was the US, followed by China and the UK. Other areas with significant development were Asia Pacific, the USA and the Middle East.

Wealthy women such as Paris Hilton or pop stars like Cheryl Cole also own expensive Rolls-Royce vehicles. The company sells about three Ghosts to every one Phantom. According to Mr. Mueller Oetvoes’ interview to Daily Mail, women are attracted by the car’s masculinity and now account for about 10 per cent of the sales of the Ghosts.

Rolls-Royce is a brand for males, but women simply adore their Ghosts. They decorate their cars’ interiors with feminine accessories picking the leather and the colours they like. As far as the colours are concerned, the chief executive of Rolls-Royce remarked that there is a degree of sobriety.
